BELGICA OBSCURA
Belgium may not be the largest film country, especially when it comes to genre films, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t strong output. In fact, more and more filmmakers are not just flirting with genre films—they are fully committed to them. The big titles you know probably still fit on one hand, but don’t be fooled, because behind them there’s a whole range of filmmakers ready to follow in their footsteps with well-crafted (short) films.
Belgica Obscura is the brainchild of curator Wesley Remory, who, together with the regular selection team, presents a Belgian program spread over a short film block moderated by Tim Maerschand as well as several standalone titles.
