Razor Reel and MIFF
Razor Reel Flanders Film Fest has been a member of the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF) for more than ten years. MIFF is a close-knit network of 33 fantastic film festivals from 22 countries, with a worldwide audience of over 800,000 visitors. This makes MIFF a vital economic and cultural player within the fantastic film world.
MIFF’s mission is to promote European fantastic film productions throughout Europe and the rest of the world. The federation fulfills this mission through its network of festivals in Europe, its supporting members in Asia, North America, and South America, and its Méliès awards for outstanding European genre films.
As a member of MIFF, Razor Reel annually organizes the Méliès d'Argent competition for the best European fantastic short film. This competition recognizes quality and creativity and generates unique visibility for the films and their directors. Winners are showcased by all festivals in the federation, including supporting members, encouraging their distribution worldwide.
Every Méliès d'Argent winner also competes for the Méliès d'Or award, which stands for quality, creativity, and imagination. In 2020, Last Dance (by Danny Gibbons & Alex Scott) won the Méliès d'Argent at Razor Reel Flanders Film Fest. A year later, the short film also took home the Méliès d'Or at Sitges.
