THEATER 1

Alberto Sedano — Spain — 2024 — 2.02u

In post-Franco Spain, a wave of erotic and provocative films flooded cinemas under the “S” label — raw, subversive, and wildly popular.

These films exposed a society in transition, blending satire, sexuality and political rebellion. At Razor Reel Flanders Film Fest, we spotlight this bold and often misunderstood genre. Discover the full selection in this brochure and dive into Spain’s steamy cinematic past.

This revealing documentary explores Spain’s infamous “S” films — a surge of erotic cinema that exploded after Franco’s regime. Through interviews and rare footage, it uncovers how sex on screen became a tool for rebellion, expression, and cultural awakening. A bold and essential introduction to one of Spain’s most controversial cinematic chapters.

Vicente Aranda — Spain

1972 — 1.42u

In post‑Franco Spain, newlywed Susan arrives at her husband’s ancestral mansion—and soon becomes haunted by the ghostly bride Mircalla Karnstein, who centuries ago murdered her groom on their wedding night. As desire and horror intertwine, Susan succumbs to a lesbian vampiric seduction, turning the tables in a macabre spree of blood and power. Blending gothic vampirism with erotic subversion, the film reflects the emerging Clasificada S spirit—transgressive, politically charged, and unforgettable.
