Meat Kills : “Care for another slice?”

In Meat Kills (2025) we follow Mirthe, a newcomer within the radical activist group Animal Army. To prove herself, she sneaks into a pig farm and films the brutal conditions. This earns her access to a larger mission: the liberation of the victims themselves. But as you can guess, not everything goes smoothly. Complications pile up — and the activists might not have expected that they themselves could become the hunted.

The film digs deep into themes such as activism, animal rights, and the razor-thin line between idealism and extremism. As Mirthe goes further and further, the pressing question arises: will she keep fighting at all costs, or choose awareness and a way out?
Meat Kills puts the moral dilemma right on the table: how far are you allowed to go in the fight for justice?
Director Martijn Smits is no stranger to Razor Reel: we screened his short film De Bug at our very first edition. Later came Off Road and the cult success Zombibi. With Meat Kills, he returns with a genre film that both entertains and cuts deep.
And yes, with a title like this you can expect creative kills. But more than that, it’s the psychological tension and the social mirror that lift this film to another level. Activism here is stripped down to fear, tension, and futility.
An uncomfortable yet irresistible chunk of cinema — served with the director and screenwriter in attendance… and yes, with a bacon sandwich on the side!
